About the Role:

We are looking for a Backend Engineer who is enthusiastic about building scalable backend systems and interfacing with DevOps to manage operations with a keen eye for automation and security. You will play a pivotal role in developing our enterprise AI platform that helps knowledge workers be more effecitve in getting their jobs done. You’ll work alongside our AI experts to integrate our DistillAI algorithm into every aspect of the platform, and you’ll get to work at the API level with the leading LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Hugging Face and others.

Job responsibilities
Top priorities: This is the kind of work you can expect to be doing as you come into this role — although we are all Crew, so we help each other succeed outside of these core priorities:
- Design and implement backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
- Work with DevOps to:
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable deployment of our software.
- Manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring robustness and security.
- Automate our operational processes as much as possible, with accuracy and in real-time.
- Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve the provision and deployment of the platform.
- Provide technical guidance and educate team members on development and operations.
Job requirements
Skills required: This is our "must" list -- skills you'll need to be successful in the role
- Excellent understanding of Python and SQL
- Configuring and managing relational DBs using MySQL, Postgres, etc.
- Experience developing backend services using API frameworks like flask, fastAPI, etc.
- Experience with Docker and Git
- The backend needs to be rock-solid; APIs need to “just work always”
The ideal candidate also has: This is our "want" list -- The ideal candidate will also have these skills in addition to the minimums above, but we'd still love to talk to you even if you don't yet have these skills
- Experience with at least one of the following cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines (GH Actions, Jenkins, Argo, etc.)
